Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin presents an all-Bach program in Milan, preceded by an introductory lecture by a distinguished musicologist offering a wide-ranging reflection on the world, past and present.
In an Europe marked by religious tensions and profound social change, a figure emerged who was able to synthesize tradition and innovation. How did a musician working within the framework of ecclesiastical and court patronage become indispensable centuries later? Would we be able today to recognize a new Bach? And how can we transform the legacy of the past into a living resource capable of guiding our future?
This is not an exercise in nostalgia, but a critical inquiry into how a work deeply rooted in its own time can speak to the future.
