The exhibition, through a corpus of over 50 works, mostly vintage, recounts the broad and varied artistic journey of this photographer, a profound interpreter of her time and a witness to it.
Elisabetta Catalano (Rome, 1944–2015) captured, rendering them eternal, the performances of artists such as Jannis Kounellis, Joseph Beuys, and Fabio Mauri, her life partner. In fact, all her photographs testify to a privileged relationship with art, thanks to the recurring presence of artworks, architecture, and stage designs within the frame of her images.
Known and admired above all for her extraordinarily rich production of portraits of artists, actors, fashion designers, and leading figures from the cultural world she frequented, this exhibition also brings us closer to her documentary work.
