In musical terminology, a ghost track is a phantom track: a song hidden at the end of an album that doesn't appear on the official track list, a silent presence that reveals itself only to those who listen beyond the expected limit.
This metaphor forms the curatorial device of Ghost Track, a project promoted by MAC - Milano Art Community and Milano Art Week, which features works by artists connected to the MAC within the exhibition itinerary of Milan's civic museums. The works engage with the permanent collections, occupying the spaces like unexpected guests: alongside historic pieces, in display cases, and in the spaces between works. The intervention is a discreet presence that doesn't alter the usual experience but introduces potential new levels of interpretation.
The project aims to foster a new focus on museum space, transforming the visit into an experience of exploration and the museum into a place of ongoing negotiation between historical memories and contemporary languages. With a new format conceived by Milano Art Week and Milano Art Community in collaboration with Milan's civic museums, Ghost Track becomes an opportunity to activate and strengthen ties within the city's artistic and museum community.
