Down Plein Air

Down Plein Air takes shape by overturning the tradition of plein air painting, bringing it not to the light of nature but to the Milanese underground. Usually hidden and inaccessible spaces, environments that reveal unexpected architecture, lights, and sounds, become evocative settings for the production of paintings.

Down Plein Air invites you to immerse yourself in an underground landscape, to slow down the rhythms of the surface, and to engage with a dimension that questions polarities such as above and below, inside and outside, visible and hidden. Valerio Nicolai accompanies the audience on this journey with a language that alternates irony, self-irony, and psychodrama, transforming them into food for thought.
