Jacopo Martinotti.
‘Via Vecchia Strada Militare’ is the evocation of a place, a military fortress built on the outskirts of Savona, where in 1943 the Nazi-Fascist forces massacred a number of citizens. This video installation - conceived for The Open Box – photographically investigates the wall surface that witnessed the execution. Photographed one by one on film and projected onto the wall at the back of the exhibition space, the various bullet holes left as traces become an obsessive and vertiginous constellation. The projection itself becomes a shooting, generating a visual and temporal short-circuit that interrogates us through the force of images that acquire a universal value.
