Silvia Bächli - Lines are telling stories

In her fifth exhibition at the gallery, Swiss artist Silvia Bächli continues in her exploration begun in the late 1970s of the most nuclear elements of drawing: surface, line, color, and brushstroke. Although each choice concerning them is identifiable to the artist, they find renewed definition and existence on each new sheet of paper and guide the viewer through her way of conceiving the rhythm of reality.
In the spaces at Via Stradella 1 and 4, Bächli presents a selection of drawings from 2006 onward that find life alongside the more recent ones on the wall. The red brushstrokes of Untitled, 2011 and Spine 2, 2023 coexist and intersect with the solid fields of color of the Farbfeld series, touching tones of brown, brick and deep blue.
