Nico Vascellari PASTORALE

Palazzo Reale presents Pastorale, a solo exhibition by Nico Vascellari that develops as a large site-specific project conceived for the Sala delle Cariatidi. Pastorale draws deeply on the history of the Sala delle Cariatidi, characterized by glory, decline and rebirth, starting from the events of the twentieth century that almost destroyed it during the bombings of 1943, causing the collapse of the ceiling and the devastation of the statues that adorned the walls. This historical memory becomes current and even more tangible in a contemporaneity marked by wars, ruins and divisions, but also by the inexhaustible possibility of rebirth, a central theme in Vascellari's artistic vision.
