This exhibition, conceived for the GAM, will be the first major presentation in Milan of Ugo Rondinone’s work (b.1964)
Organized by Comune di Milano/GAM-Galleria d’Arte Moderna in collaboration with CMS.Cultura, the show o!ers a journey into the
artist’s personal history, born in Switzerland to Italian parents from Matera, drawing correspondences between selected masterpieces from the museum’s collection and artworks by Rondinone.
The artist has declared: «Why leave this word to those who wield it to hurt, when we can take it back, cleanse it and find ways of using it to
redeem those who have been o!ended? The word terrone should be returned to its original meaning, to describe people who work with and love the earth».
