Alongside the exhibition De Pas D’Urbino Lomazzi – Fantastically Effervescent, CASVA presents the works of Mario Lomazzi, father of Paolo. It is a symbolic succession: Mario passed away in 1969, after leading the family foundry, just as Paolo’s career was taking off: in 1972, Paolo was recognized in New York as a young talent. Paolo Lomazzi’s imagination was shaped in response to his father’s painting, which urged him to search—far from a present steeped in nostalgic traces of the past—for a modernity capable of generating an unprecedented, ironic, and functional beauty. Reclaiming ancient canvases, the quality of the painting, the poetic nature and the intimacy of their representations, becomes a necessary pleasure—one that deserves to find its place even on the most contemporary walls.
