The exhibition dedicated to Robert Mapplethorpe at Palazzo Reale, open since January 29, celebrates the American photographer with more than 200 works, some shown in Italy for the first time. Curated by Denis Curti, the show highlights the formal perfection of Mapplethorpe’s compositions, where sensuality, explicit eroticism and harmony of form emerge. Alongside his famous photographs are iconic portraits of figures such as Patti Smith, Andy Warhol, Susan Sontag and Truman Capote. A special section focuses on the artist’s 1960s collages and ready-mades, revealing his experimental research and dialogue with the Dada legacy. The exhibition runs until mid-May.
