One hundred years after the birth of Tomonori Toyofuku, the Milanese studio where the artist worked for over forty years is hosting an exhibition dedicated to his oeuvre. Now the studio of Natsuko Toyofuku, a contemporary jewellery designer, the space becomes a place of memory and continuity. The exhibition features a selection of sculptures, models, projects and archive materials spanning the key phases of the artist's career, from his early figurative art in Japan to his development of an abstract language that blossomed in Milan in the 1960s, interacting with the experimental art scene of the period. It's a journey that reflects the complexity of a body of work based on the relationship between matter and emptiness and Toyofuku's role as a bridge between Italy and Japan.
