Some New Items for the Home, Part 1at DAAD Galerie, Berlin, Produced by: Jasper Morrison Studio, Photo credit: Jasper Morrison Studio
The Lightness of Things, curated by Alberto Salvadori, celebrates Jasper Morrison’s (London, 1959) essential approach to design. For Fondazione ICA Milano, the designer has created an installation combining twelve floating chairs in the exhibition space and twelve photographic wall compositions representing archetypal objects. The setup is accompanied by a minimalist soundscape, specially created by composer Anthony Moore, featuring fragments of essays written by Morrison and voiced by non-human sounds. For Jasper Morrison, objects should integrate seamlessly into their surroundings without imposing themselves, as their true value lies in the natural way they become part of everyday life.
