Cortesi Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition “Pietro Consagra. Colloquio diabolico”, curated by Alberto Salvadori in collaboration with the Archivio Pietro Consagra. The exhibition will be held from 1 April to 27 June 2025 at the gallery’s Milan headquarters, in Via Morigi 8.

The monographic exhibition is part of the gallery’s program dedicated to Italian artists who have marked the evolution of the 20th century art system. The choice to present Consagra’s work stems from the desire to deepen his contribution to the redefinition of modern sculpture, with particular attention to “psychological” abstractionism and the frontality of his work. As a counterpoint to the sculptures, a selection of bitumens, painted on faesite, are exhibited in which one can perceive, and in some cases even read, the dynamics of the creation of the Colloqui (made between 1952 and 1964), in their specific two-dimensionality, fundamental for the reading of Pietro Consagra’s works.

The exhibition “Pietro Consagra. Colloquio diabolico” is an extraordinary opportunity to admire the artist’s incredible ability to combine monumental dimension and symbolism, offering a new vision of 20th-century sculpture. The exhibition, which marks the return of iconic works such as Colloquio diabolico, is a tribute to the innovation and artistic research of the great Sicilian sculptor.
